At SWS, students learn grade-level academic content through a dual-immersion model that builds strong bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural skills. Our program blends rigorous academics with a warm, small-school environment where every child is known, challenged, and supported.
At SWS, students learn through a true dual-immersion model, where each language has its own dedicated teacher, subjects, and routines. Students quickly learn to expect Spanish with the Spanish teacher and English with the English teacher, which strengthens both language systems and keeps instruction clear and consistent.
Subjects shift languages as students progress. Math begins in Spanish in K–1 and continues in English in grades 2–5. Science begins in English (K–1) and continues in Spanish (2–5).

English Literacy Development (Integrated Model):
While we do not offer a traditional English Language Arts block, students receive consistent English literacy instruction through:
Explicit phonics and spelling instruction (using Science of Reading, Words Their Way, Spelling Secret Stories)
Structured writing within science, history, and project work
Daily reading and reading comprehension in English content areas
This integrated approach aligns with Science of Reading principles and has been highly effective for our learners.
Students build strong literacy skills in both languages, without confusion
Skills transfer between languages, accelerating reading development
Students develop academic stamina by learning in two linguistic systems
Families joining in Kindergarten or 1st grade catch up quickly and thrive
Returning families benefit from uninterrupted, deep bilingual learning
