SWS Alumni Family
“We now cannot imagine our kids’ childhood without SWS — it was truly ‘home’ for our entire family.”
Both of my children attended elementary school, from kindergarten through fifth grade, at Spanish With Sarah. Despite the fact that my two kids have very different personalities and learning styles, they each benefitted immeasurably from their time at SWS.
They finished fifth grade with academic and conversational proficiency in Spanish and are so proud of it. But Spanish fluency is just the beginning! The widely enriched curriculum, incredibly caring teachers, and academic rigor taught them both not only to face a challenge, but to welcome it.
They have each approached academic and extracurricular demands since leaving SWS with confidence, curiosity, and enthusiasm. I could never have dreamed of such a dedicated, caring, and committed group of teachers. I look back now and cannot believe our good fortune.
We stumbled onto SWS looking for a good academic fit for our daughter, who was reading proficiently in preschool and needed more of a challenge than a traditional kindergarten was going to offer. I now cannot imagine my kids’ childhood without SWS. It was truly ‘home’ for our entire family for a decade and we ALL shed tears when our youngest graduated. I cannot recommend this special place enough.
“Spanish With Sarah (SWS) was, without a doubt, the best educational decision we ever made for our girls.”
From preschool through fifth grade, their learning at SWS was both engaging and appropriately challenging—so much so that, when they moved on to middle school, they often remarked that they had already covered much of the curriculum at SWS. The small classes meant teachers could tailor projects to each student’s level, creating an encouraging, supportive environment that still provided the stretch our kids wanted and needed.
The dual-language program gave our daughters a real advantage. Each earned a bilingual endorsement on her high school diploma, and one was selected as a Young Ambassador for the United States, studying abroad in Ecuador—an opportunity made possible by her strong Spanish skills.
SWS makes learning fun. Frequent presentations and hands-on projects helped our girls build confidence in public speaking and collaboration. Beyond top-notch academics, the school’s physical education and art programs are outstanding. The community and environment SWS created are truly special, and we still treasure them today.
We wholeheartedly recommend Spanish With Sarah to any family seeking an exceptional, supportive, and enriching educational experience.
“SWS was the best academic decision we made for our now-18-year-old.”
Not only did he become a confident bilingual speaker, he also developed the executive-function and growth-mindset skills needed to excel in a rigorous AP and Magnet STEM high school program. The caring teachers at SWS partnered with us to support developmental milestones and foster independence.
The school’s structure and consistency created a challenging academic environment that developed individual potential and accountability within a community of engaged learners. Teachers nurtured curiosity and accomplishment while building collaboration and work-management skills. The dual-immersion model—alternating subjects by year—provided a broad linguistic foundation that helped our son earn the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy.
We are deeply grateful for the community, confidence, and opportunities SWS helped build for our child.
