AM Spanish

Middle School Spanish is a class intended for students who have completed a Spanish Immersion elementary school program or who have extensive Spanish experience.

The AM Spanish  class will meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 7:20-8:10AM.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to move quickly through Spanish 3 and Spanish 4, identifying any vocabulary and grammar skills that are new.  With this goal in mind, students will practice the basic communication skills which include listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  In addition to continuing our communication skills, students will become more familiar with the grammatical mechanics of the language. Success in this course will be determined by the student’s ability to demonstrate functional use of the Spanish skills covered in class, as well as the student’s participation and completion of assignments.  By fulfilling the requirements in this course, students will be fully prepared for Spanish 4 next year.

Materials Fee – $75/year

3-day classes – $165/month

Exam – Upon completing Spanish 4 students are given the option to take a state STAMP test.  There are fees associated with this test. (Less than $100 typically.)

GRADING:

Trimester Grades will be determined by

• ASSIGNMENTS (50%):In-class Assignments, In-class Participation
• ASSESSMENTS (20%):Oral Interviews, Written Quizzes/Tests, Presentations
• Participation (30%):Oral Interviews, Written Quizzes/Tests, Presentations

 

Trimester Grades will be determined by

• Trimester 1 (30%)
• Trimester 2 (30%)
• Trimester 3 (30%)
• Final Exam (10 %)
