Students worked on the writing process this week. They wrote what they like about the ocean. They then revised their first draft, making corrections, and wrote a final copy. These will go on the bulletin board this coming Wednesday.
History & Geography
This week in our unit Fun Stories we read “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” and “The Wolf and the Seven Kids“. The class wrote in their journals about the stories. The class had fun acting out these stories in class as well. We continue to work on our daily geography, focusing on reading maps and directions.
Our weekly objectives were to:
• demonstrate familiarity with the stories
• understand that fiction can be in many different forms, including folktales
• identify the plots, settings, and sequences of the stories we’ve read
• identify a compass rose and use it to locate objects on a map
Science
This week we learned about the legend of Johnny Appleseed. The class had enjoyed investigating the inside of an apple. We also made bees and worked on our bee songs.
Our weekly objectives were to:
• understand that people eat the fruit of apple trees
• explain that seeds are the beginning of new plants and specifically that apple seeds are found inside the core of an apple
• demonstrate familiarity with the tail “Johnny Appleseed”
